The image above shows a trio of installation vessels and an accommodation barge alongside a floating production, storage and offloading facility (FPSO) anchored off the coast of Nigeria.
The customer liked the layout of the image but agreed that it lacked the punch required to qualify as suitable for publication.
The image improvement process consisted of several steps. Firstly, the image was levelled to the horizon before boosting colour and contrast. Then followed the introduction of a graduated darkening of the sea as it approached the viewer's perspective. Despite those adjustments, the image still lacked punch. So the entire sky was replaced with a brighter one consisting of more appealing cloud formations.
